Every year, the Indonesian government offers two great scholarship opportunities to experience Indonesia. It is for people who are interested to learn Indonesian arts, music, dance, culture, and language.
- Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (2018 application linked) – offered annually since 2003 through the Indonesian Embassy. Purpose is to deepen recipients’ understanding of Indonesian arts and culture and enhance their skills for a culminating performance at the conclusion of the 3-month-long summer program. Check their Facebook page or the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for updated information. The deadline is usually in the beginning of January.
- DARMASISWA – offered annually by the Indonesian government since 1974, this year-long program is targeted to students (17 to 35 years old) who are interested in studying in their field at an Indonesian university. In addition to academics, language and cultural studies are also part of the program. The deadline is usually in the beginning of February. These scholarship applications are usually posted online in the middle of the fall semester.
